As it turns out, Mazda's next move will be to bring the MAZDA2 to Vietnam. The vehicle is now set to be both produced and sold there this October. This move comes "as the Japanese car maker eyes the country's promising growth potential and as its domestic production base is pressured by the strong yen," according to sources.¹

The MAZDA2 is set to be produced at a production facility that was recently constructed by Mazda's distributor (Vina Mazda Automobile Manufacturing Co.). The plant, which is located in Quang Nam province, is set to produce about 2,000 vehicles per year. This is a great contribution to a growing market, and a sure sign that Mazda is continuing to gain market share around the world.

Here in the United States, Mazda's reliable hatch will be available with either a 1.3- or 1.5-liter gasoline engine, as well as a diesel engine in Canada. "Bringing MAZDA2 to North America completes the bookends in our lineup," said Jim O'Sullivan, president and CEO of Mazda North America, in a press release.²
