Mazda Announces Special Edition RX-8 to End Production Run

The Mazda RX-8 might be on its way out of production, but that isn't stopping the Japanese automaker from delivering one more special edition to the market before they send it on its way. We here at Avondale Mazda are sad to see the iconic coupe go, and even more so after hearing all about the Mazda RX-8 Spirit R, which is set for release in Japan starting this month.
At a glance, the most striking thing about the Mazda RX-8 Spirit R are its color options, which range from Aluminum Metallic and Sparkling Black Mica to Crystal White Pear Mica. Any of these option compliment the bronze alloy wheels quite well, crafting a smooth look that is every bit luxurious as it is aggressive and daring.
But make no mistake about it, this vehicle isn't all looks. Rather, it has the performance to back up its aggressive styling as well! A true RX-8 to the core, it features the automaker's legendary rotary engine with a six-speed manual transmission, though for a bit more it can also feature a six-speed automatic transmission as well.
"Although RX-8 production is ending, the rotary engine will always represent the spirit of Mazda and Mazda remains committed to its ongoing development,"1 says Mazda president and CEO Takashi Yamanouchi.
Unfortunately, we won't be seeing the Mazda RX-8 Spirit R at 10675 W Papago Fwy Avondale, AZ 85323 anytime soon, as it's a Japanese exclusive. You can, however, learn more about the rest of the new Mazda lineup that we carry simply by contacting us online or by phone at (888) 879-9106.
