Engine design has always been one of Mazda's strengths. Their RX series tests the limits of what powerplant deign can mean to the auto industry. The Rotary engine is a staple in that line up of vehicles, and with the upcoming RX-8 a new motor will be produced.

The next-generation Mazda RX-8 will get significantly improved fuel economy, thanks in part to a new SKY Rotary engine.

Mazda has announced plans to introduce the redesigned BT-50 pickup at the Australian International Motor Show.

Details are limited, but the BT-50 is described as an "active lifestyle vehicle that overturns the conventional image of a compact pickup truck." It features a Mazda6-inspired front end, bulging fender flares and wraparound taillights.

Available in multiple configurations, the BT-50 will be sold in Australia and Europe.  It remains unclear if it will be offered in the United?
